Sold Stuff: The House That (Architect) Barbie Built Sells For $10.2M

No sooner did Barbie snag one of those rare jobs as an architect did the good lady get her first commission: a Los Angeles mansion for ex-Mattel CEO Jill Barad. Please, as if. Barbie, a noted fan of modernism and the color pink, would never deign to design such a traditional dwelling. In truth, the 9,300-square-foot Med-style home was built in 1991 and has been on and off the market since June 2010, when it was originally listed for $14.995M, and has just sold for $10.2M, according to Redfin. While the interiors, with its wood paneling, are probably a bit too done up for Barbie and her gaggle, the property does have a party-worthy pool, spa, and outdoor pavilion with a large adjacent lawn—perfect for all her dogs.
