Building materials damaged by Hurricane Sandy have been reclaimed and transformed into high-design furnishings, thanks to a handful of NYC artists and designers intent on crafting something beautiful out of the dregs of destruction. Tomorrow, Reclaim NYC will host its first auction, selling off items like lamps made from scraps of buildings from Red Hook, a much-damaged Brooklyn neighborhood, to benefit relief efforts.
