House of the Day: One of the Chilly Thousand Islands Waits for Spring to Sell

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: Thousand Islands, N.Y.
Price: $875,000
The Skinny: Located on the diminutive Peel Island, a 0.6-acre private isle in the shadow of the Thousand Islands Bridge, this simple structure was originally built in 1895, but received a "total ground up renovation/restoration" in 2007. The 1,800-square-foot main house, known as Castle May, looks out over the St. Lawrence River and backs up on a two-slip boathouse for covered storage during the long winters. On the mainland, a stone's throw away, there's a private lot with dock and garage for easy access. Of course, that access becomes a bit more perilous in the winter, so the brokers are holding off on officially listing the place until April of next year. For now, they're content to prepare a list of potential buyers, with an asking price of $875K.
