That drumbeat you hear? CB2's PR team making a mad, thundering dash to fix this: the "Lucky Beggar Wallet," currently available for $15.95. The furnishings retailer has dabbled in festive decorative balls, among other strange props, and certainly offered up curious products, but never before has it, err, released an object inspired by NYC's homeless population. Mussing up matters further is the wallet's description: it's "inspired by the iconic blue and white coffee cup often seen in the hands of New York City panhandlers" and "begs to be seen." As Jezebel's Jenna Sauers astutely interprets, "Ah, yes, the 'iconic' poverty of the New York City streets! Imagine having a wallet that conjures the romantic, artisanal life spent sleeping on sidewalks in a city where an unprecedented number of people are now without shelter." Don't worry, though, CB2's Lucky Beggar Wallet "won't spill any of its valuable contents, thanks to a nifty zip top." Whew!
