From Curbed Marketplace: Atlanta Castle Asks $4.9M for Limitless Faux-Tuscan Mess

Here now, From Curbed Marketplace, highlighting an intriguing real estate listing from the many thousands of properties found in the Curbed Marketplace. Browsing the Marketplace and spot a property worthy of being featured? Send it to the tipline.

Celebrating it's 600th day on the market today: Atlanta's Buckhead Castle, a gloriously gaudy palacio that joins the ranks of some of the country's most overdone faux chateaus—and that includes the well-fringed, lavishly frescoed, and exceedingly marbled manses of the Real Housewives clan. The Georgia home, stuffed with antique furniture, textured walls, marble columns, and a myriad of made-to-look-Victorian portraits, seems to follow the mold of any over-the-top Tuscan villa: pool promenade, fake blue-sky ceiling, and all. The home's 16,000 square feet—that's six bedrooms, 10 baths, and six fireplaces—is all (not) going for $4.9M, $1.5M cheaper than its original ask and scads less than its overly opulent California contemporaries, which tend to go for upwards of $20M. Other bonuses: four kitchens, four "laundry centers," and a guest apartment. See it above.
