According to the high-brow design rag Architectural Digest, the magazine's AD100 list represents the cream of the crop when it comes to architecture and design. How does this design celebrity translate into the real world? With multi-milliondollar prices, of course. California traditionalist Marc Appleton has established himself as one of the go-to guys for the restoration of early-20th century architecture, but also has garnered plenty of interest for his new construction, like this 2002 build in the Montecito hills. The 8,000-square-foot, red tile-roofed mansion has five bedrooms and 5.5 baths, plus an adjacent one-bedroom guest house, all built in an updated but restrained Mediterranean style. Set on more than 11 acres with views of the Pacific and a five-car garage, the estate is currently listed for $12.95M.
