In Germany, the street artist known simply as Evol has made it his business to transform familiar metropolitan minutia into urban apartment lookalikes, complete with stenciled balconies and window treatments. For his Buildings series, the Berlin-based artist constructs a lifelike meta-city built from things like concrete blockades, power boxes, and wall facades. The level of detail is all a bit mind-bending; blinds remain half closed, light bends across the face of the satellite dishes that blight the facade, and drapes crinkle just on the other side of imagined glass panes.
