On the market in the scenic town of Stellenbosch is Rustenberg, one of South Africa's most well-known wine estates, a property with 526 hillside acres and views like a French Impressionist painting. The $31.1M ask includes ownership of the wine brand, the facility, the vineyard, and, yeah, the five-bedroom, eight-bathroom plantation house that is, in itself, an emblem of this region. The brokerbabble does not mince words: "Opportunities like this are scarce. The position is unbeatable, the infrastructure impressive and the wines are acclaimed." And, well, true: the vineyard is a top producer in South Africa (one of its Cabernets "may be the finest red wine I have tried from South Africa," the famed wine critic Robert Parker once raved) and dates back to 1692, and many of the buildings—including the gable-thatched manor—are original.
