House of the Day: 'Who Needs Downton Abbey,' Says This Hamptons Mansion

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: Sagaponack, N.Y.
Price: $23,000,000
The Skinny: The broker for this newly constructed nouveau shingle-style mansion in Sagaponack certainly has a high opinion of the property, saying "who needs Downton Abbey when there is this 8409 square-foot residence." Well, considering the real Downton Abbey—or at least Highclere Castle, the setting for the popular PBS series—sits on 1,000 acres of English countryside and the grand house at the heart of the estate has some 80 bedrooms spread over 120,000 square feet of grandiose Jacobethan architecture, this run-of-the-mill Hamptons mansion might have some convincing to do. Still, that doesn't prevent the 3.65-acre Sagaponack estate from asking a whopping $23M, a price that includes nine bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, tennis court, swimming pool, pool house, and a bevy of other luxe features.
