Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: South Kingstown, R.I.
Price: $1,195,000
The Skinny: So many claims of McKim, Mead, and White provenance prove dubious, but this stone pile in coastal Rhode Island is the real deal. An 1885 construction by the then-recently formed partnership, Emdalar, as the estate is known, is described by historic architecture fanatic John Foreman as "a big friendly barn of a place, with plenty of visual interest and no pretensions," and far from a Newport "cottage," stylistically if not geographically. It may not have the pomp of the Breakers, but this is one stately barn, with a McKim Mead and White signature "living hall"—a central gathering place and precursor to the modern "great room"—a gracious central staircase, and abundant wood paneling. Currently listed for $1.195M, Emdalar is certainly in need of some work, but the stirling pedigree and unmangled original detail should make this a prime candidate for restoration.
